A friend of mine works for an Osteoporosis Organization and she sent me some great information on the importance of being aware of Osteoporosis. It is a disease of the bone that leads to increased risk of fracture. In Osteoporosis, the bone mineral density (BMD) is reduced, disrupted and the amount of non-collagenous proteins in the bone is altered. This disease is most common in women after menopause, but may also appear in men, and can also appear in anyone with the presence of a hormonal disorder. Osteoporosis can be prevented with lifestyle changes such as preventative falls, exercise, proper nutrition, medication including Calcium and Vitamin D and several others.Take care of your body and your bones from a youthful age and they'll take care of you throughout your life!
