A few tips before you get engaged:

Are you ready to get engaged? This is a question that a lot of people in relationships ponder day in and day out. There are many advantages to getting engaged, but at the same time if you are not ready it may not be the best thing for you. With that in mind, getting engaged is supposed to be a fun time in your life. If you are going to stress out about getting engaged you are not alone. But there is a fine line between stress, and knowing when getting engaged is not right for you. With a bit of soul searching and self assessment you should be able to determine if getting engaged is something that you should do.

The first thing to consider is the state of your current relationship. Looking into this will give you a good idea as to whether or not you should move forward with the next step. When assessing your relationship you should look into several aspects. Are you close with your partner? Do you go to them when you need advice, or assistance with anything that is on your mind? Do you look at them and see your future? These are all questions that you need to consider about the current state of your relationship. In addition, also consider your partners feelings. You should know them better than anybody else so it is important to take them into consideration. If you absolutely know for sure that they will not want to get engaged, then you should reevaluate what you are doing.

In addition, take the engagement ring situation into consideration. You should never buy anything that you cannot afford. So if you can only get a cheap engagement ring you have two options. You can either wait long to propose, or you can go with a cheaper alternative. Either way, your partner will be thrilled about the engagement; not just the fact that she is getting a ring to show all of her friends.

You may even want to have your engagement published in the local newspaper, or send out formal announcements. None of this is necessary but can be fun to do!

Overall, there is a lot that goes into the engagement process. But as long as you take your situation into consideration you should be alright in the end.
