The Seven and a half Commandments of Charming:

1. Ask Questions- It's amazing how interesting you become as soon as you ask a good question.  Most people love talking about themselves.  And they love it even more when you seem genuinely interested in what they say.  Make eye contact, and act like the person you are talking to is the only one in the room. Crack jokes, tease and be sure to let on a little about yourself.

2. Be Prepared- Charming people always have something to talk about in every situation, so know your material. The Middle East, the films of the 80's, Hip Hop Music, hot restaurants, anything will do.  Do not, however, prepare and rehearse statements or jokes.

3. Carry a Conversation Piece- An interesting piece of jewellery, a gag gift, a scar or even a funny looking friend will do.  People will be apt to inquire about it.

4. Be Unexpected- After introductions, skip the obligatory "So what do you do?" question and talk about something fun.  Charming people always lead to the good stuff.  Consider this an opportunity to learn or tell something new and unique.

5. Movement- A little bit of hand motions and movement can go a long way.

6. Smile and Listen- Can't think of anything to say? Follow the conversation with an interested look, nod when appropriate, smile warmly and listen!

7. It's Not a Contest- Sometimes let others enjoy the spotlight

7.5. If All Else Fails- Drink heavily.....Just kidding....Well, a little......
